OFFICIAL LAUNCH: VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
We are so excited to announce the official launch of our volunteer program. After two months of working on job descriptions, policies, waiver forms, and everything else that is needed for a program, we have all the paperwork done. Now we just need the people!
"Volunteering is something I've always been passionate about. I grew up volunteering with my family and friends. Now that I'm a graduate student and don't have a lot of money to donate, I can donate my time and my knowledge to organizations and causes I support. That's something I think everyone can do," says Cheyanne Welch, our Volunteer Services Coordinator.
Our open positions are:
Little Free Library Manager
Gardening and Landscaping
Information Distribution and Ambassador
Goods Donation Manager
Our program has been specifically designed with accessibility, inclusion, and diversity in mind. All positions are adaptable and accommodations are available. We have a variety of positions open for people of all ages, interests, and skill levels - and we're looking forward to creating more!
"This is a perfect grassroots opportunity to really make a difference in the community, especially the community you live in. And people really have a chance to help shape and co-create the program because this is a brand-new program. You get to make your mark; you're not just a cog in the machine because we are a small, local non-profit. You have a name and we know who you are," says our Executive Director Sally-Anne Woolnough. "Canada and Edmonton have a proud history of active volunteering - plus it looks great on a resume for anyone, especially young people or newcomers."
